Corona Virus – What are we doing?

OUR BUSINESS REMAINS OPEN AND WE ARE HERE TO HELP

AS OF MARCH 28, WE HAVE POSTPONED ALL IN-CLINIC PHYSIOTHERAPY AND MASSAGE THERAPY APPOINTMENTS UNTIL APRIL 20TH. PHYSIOTHERAPY REMAINS OPEN FOR VIRTUAL CARE. WE HAVE TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO REMAIN AT HOME BUT STILL ACCESS PHYSIOTHERAPY. Many extended health benefit plans are now paying for virtual physiotherapy. We are answering the phones and able to book appointments with all therapists.

We are watching the situation closely and following the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer and the Government of Alberta.   From the beginning of this outbreak, we have doubled our efforts in regards to our already rigorous infection control policy.  Through our continued vigilance we endeavor to keep our patients and staff safe.  To that end, we wanted to make sure that you are aware of additional steps that we are taking. It is important that you feel confident and comfortable attending your visit with us.

OUR ROLE

  • We are continuously monitoring the situation by keeping up to date with the Chief Medical Officer, the Calgary Health Region and our governing bodies
  • Our physiotherapists and staff are being asked to maintain recommended social distancing among their community interactions (by keeping our staff healthy we can ensure you will stay healthy).
  • We are closely screening patients on the phone AND when they attend the clinic.  (Sorry in advance for the inconvenience!) We are asking patients to re-book appointments if they have recently traveled, are feeling ill or if anyone in their home is feeling ill.
  • Any staff who are feeling ill or have an ill person in the home are being asked to stay home for at least 14 days.  None of our staff have traveled in the past month and now won’t be able to travel on their spring break either 🙁
  • We are ensuring 1 meter separation between patients in compliance with recommended guidelines.

We HAVE NOW SET UP TELEHEALTH (virtual visits). if this is something you are interested in, please enquire with the front desk

YOUR ROLE

  • Please stay informed but try not to become wrapped up in the hysteria this event is creating.  Stress and anxiety has very negative effects on health and makes pain worse
  • See the reliable information Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw is sharing by clicking here.
  • Be healthy and take care of yourself.  Please keep your appointment if you ARE  WELL and HAVE NOT TRAVELED.  Treating your pain and improving your function is still important!
  • Eat well, sleep well, try and get outside for some fresh air.  Please wash hands OFTEN, avoid touching your face, maintain social distance, disinfect high touch areas around your home and car.
  • Support your local small businesses and their staff but maintain a safe social distance.  Hopefully, together we can weather this storm.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

You can take the TAKE THE ONLINE SELF ASSESSMENT prior to attending or canceling an appointment.

As of March 15, 2020 – here is the update from the Alberta Government Website:

The Government of Alberta is leading the way and we are fully behind the strong leadership of our Medical System. I would like to personally thank everyone involved in the response to this event. Access to factual, timely and scientific information has helped guide us as practitioners, business people and human beings. Here is what they are presently sharing with Albertans:

COVID-19 Online Screening – Stop the Spread

Identifying and isolating people infected with COVID-19 is the only way to stop the spread. The symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, dry cough or other cold or influenza-like symptoms. Use the online screening tool to determine whether you need to call 811 to get tested. If you are awaiting COVID-19 test results, please do not call Health Link. You will be called directly. It can take up to four days.

NOTE: You do not need to be tested for COVID-19 if in the past 14 days you have not traveled outside Canada or had contact with someone diagnosed as having COVID-19.
