I was off work in September 2013 for 3 weeks with a compressed nerve in my neck which affected my entire right arm – I can honestly say I have never been in such pain in my life – even childbirth did not compare. I could not sleep at night, could not read or watch tv, had dropped my coffee mug and burnt my right forearm whilst cooking – the only thing that gave me any relief was walking – and boy did I pace – all day & continually. I had some relief from massage, conventional physiotherapy & IMS however would still be aware of burning, tingling & my right hand going cold after certain activities such as reading, tv & being on computer.
I was frustrated, irritated and aware that my mood was being negatively affected – I was grumpy, short tempered & depressed thinking I would have to live with “my situation” forever. I did a Google search for physiotherapists in the area of Lake Bonavista that we had recently moved into and found the Bonavista Physical Therapy website with Audrey’s name and a technique called McKenzie Method.
I visited Audrey in late January 2014 and only 1 day after doing the McKenzie Method exercises regularly as she had shown me, was I aware of a decrease in my discomfort level & symptoms. It was too good to be true – I was in total disbelief that something so simple could provide relief.
I saw Audrey again after 3 days and she gave me more exercises to do. A week later I saw her again – things had turned around so much for me in such a short space of time – I was one happy lady. I am still somewhat stunned at how a few simple exercises can be so effective in reducing my discomfort & symptoms.
I now do the exercises regularly and on a daily basis.
Thank you so much Audrey for turning things around for me.
